All Clad

Born of the steel age in 1960, All-Clad Metalcrafters found its roots in a tiny metallurgical company that specialised in compound bonded metals for a selection of industries. Company founder, John Ulam, got given more than fifty US patents, especially related to bonded metals, and played an important role in the US Mint’s conversion from solid silver coins to the bonded layered metals we use today. Ulam, a skilled metallurgist, discovered that cladding dissimilar metals in the correct formulations delivered properties that no individual metal could achieve.

After forming a coalition with Alcoa in 1967, he started to evolve his bonding technology to cooking-ware products. The assorted mixes of clad metals proved to be good for cooking utensils applications, and ended in performance that significantly surpassed that of non-bonded cooking utensils. After a period of perfecting his bonding process, Ulam established All-Clad Metalcrafters in 1971, and started making professional-quality bonded cookery-ware for working cooks and gourmand home cooks. The brand slowly appeared as early adopters in the pro community realized the incredible qualities, striking aesthetics and exemplary cooking performance of this revolutionary bonded cookery-ware.

Today, from its rolling mill in Southwest Pennsylvania, All-Clad Metalcrafters is the sole bonded cooking utensils manufacturer who uses American artisans and American-made metals to supply a total line of finished bonded cookware products. When John Ulam founded All-Clad Metalcrafters more than 35 years back, his discipline as a metallurgist forced him to bond together different metals to take advantage of each of their unique properties. His bonded cooking utensils was the embodiment of easy, classic design, and proved to perform outside the capacities of any single-metal cooking utensils. In the midst of perfecting layered-metal bonding, an inheritance was born. Today, American workmen, using American-made metals, handcraft bonded cookware in the custom that established a new baseline for pro bonded cookery-ware.

At every stage of the producing process, each piece of All-Clad bonded cooking-ware is hand-inspected to be certain that it maintains All-Clad quality standards. This extraordinary inspection slows the production process, but guarantees that every piece of bonded cooking-ware that leaves the Southwest Pennsylvania rolling mill preserves the reputation that predates it. As the raw materials are important to performance, All-Clad metallurgists explain the metals formulations down to the chemical composition and microstructure. Since quality always has priority over convenience, the metals are fashioned for perfect cooking performance ; not for easy producing. All-Clad bonded cooking-ware is made to the most draconian environmental standards.

Nearly every oz. of new material is recovered and recycled, down to the metal dust generated in the sanding process. Each detail receives vital attention. The signature stay-cool handle is cast from solid stainless-steel, and is ergonomically-designed for comfort during long cooking sessions. Bolts are formed from high-yield-strength chrome steel, and treated to remove trace components of iron that would otherwise cause corrosion. These comprehensive efforts result in a finished bonded cooking-ware product that maintains the same integrity it was made with, even after a life of service. At All-Clad, performance is supreme, and quality will never be compromised.

These are the guidelines that have led All-Clad from its formation. These are the edicts of the engineers and workmen whose keenness and pride continue to turn bonded cooking-ware into heirlooms.

All-Clad Metalcrafters is a producer of high performance bonded cooking utensils with HQ in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. The company markets its cooking utensils to dept and speciality stores in the U. S. , Canada, Germany, UK and Australia together with premium All-Clad bonded ovenware, kitchen tools, and a growing collection of kitchen accessories.

All-Clad purchases its metals just from US suppliers, bonds them at its own rolling mill on-site at its HQ in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and then forms them at the same location into high-performance cooking vessels. In recent times, All-Clad has started outsourcing some of its producing to overseas partners ( e.g, China ).

The areas in which All-Clad doesn’t produce in the United States include – Where the bonding of metals isn’t needed for superior cooking performance ( e.g, kitchen tools and accessories ) On regular non-bonded parts where producing in the United States would add to the manufacturer’s price but not typically to performance ( e.g, lids ) Where producing inhibitions exist at the Canonsburg plant ( e.g, electric white goods )

    Cookware Collections

All-Clad cooking utensils feature a signature stay-cool handle that’s bolted to the body of the cooking-ware. The long, stay-cool handles are made for a life of use. Pure eighteen / ten stainless-steel is employed for each All-Clad cooking-ware handle and the bolts are made of high-yield-strength chrome steel that’s treated to get rid of iron that would cause corrosion. All handles are brightly polished including the Master Cook two collection, that has a sand blasted look to match its brushed aluminium finish. The L.T.D collection has this sandblasted look only on the inside groove of the handle. Copper-Core and LTD2 handles feature a forward stop beneath, nicely formed into the same high quality stainless-steel. Interior Finishes The cooking surface of All-Clad immaculate cookery-ware is made of an exclusive formulation of 304 grade stainless-steel specifically evolved to meet All-Clad specs referring to grain size, texture, amalgamate content, and other characteristics which make All-Clad the best cooking-ware. The most important advantage of stainless-steel over other metals is its non-reactive nature so all you can taste is the food. One or two pieces feature a stain resistant finish coated on top of the eighteen / ten chrome steel. All stainless-steel utilised by All-Clad is guaranteed to meet State Standard ISO 9000 ( Global Organisation for Standardizing ) and ASTM A240 ( testing and standards ) for all 304 series stainless-steel meant for use with food.

Each “melt” by All-Clad’s steel suppliers is tested and certificated to meet the ASTM 240 ( American Society for Testing and Materials ) standards.

Exterior Finishes All-Clad is available in a selection of exterior metals and finishes. Individual selections can be primarily based on kitchen style, frequency of use, dishwasher safe wants, and / or cooking techniques.
